FBI releases photos of bank robber with Superman tattoo

Man takes cash from Wells Fargo in Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. Superman's "S" emblem remains an iconic symbol of the comic book hero who fights villains. But on Tuesday a bank robber in Pompano Beach wore it with pride.

It was in the form of a colorful tattoo on his right arm. Without wearing a disguise, the man walked into a Wells Fargo bank, 3885 North Federal Highway, in Pompano Beach.

About 4:35 p.m., the bank robber approached a bank teller and looked right into the surveillance camera calmly.  Michael D. Leverock, a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, released three photos showing a man handing a note to a woman working as a teller.

"There were customers in the bank, there were no injuries," Leverock said in an e-mail. "Money was taken, but the amount will not be released at this time. The robber left the area on foot."

The FBI is asking anyone with information to call 754-703-2000.
