Feds warn against counterfeit toys

Feds show off intercepted items

MIAMI – Federal authorities warned against counterfeit toys containing lead or easily broken parts that make it on store shelves.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents on Wednesday showed off flimsy electronics and easily breakable toys.

"Even though it's at a discounted price, it's a fake phone," said Roland Suliveras

"We have equipment that we can use to screen these products in the field at the ports before they reach the store shelves and the hands of consumers, especially our most vulnerable consumers, which are children," said Sabrina Keller with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
