Fire at Lauderhill apartment forces rescues

Several people rescued from balconies after fire

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Several people had to be rescued from their balconies after a fire broke out at a Lauderhill apartment.

Lauderhill Fire-Rescue said the fire started on the second floor of the building along Northwest 19th Street on Monday morning.

Firefighters had to rescue residents from their balconies with ladders.

The unit where the fire started has smoke and water damage. No one was inside the unit at the time, but investigators are looking for whoever lives there as they try to figure out what started the fire.
