LAS VEGAS, Nev. -

November 12, 2013 (11/12/13) is expected to be a big day for the wedding industry and a Florida couple wasted no time making the special day even more memorable!

Darlene Hielscher and Bryan Porter, both of Ormond Beach, became the first couple to marry on the special day in Las Vegas, tying the knot at the stroke of midnight.

The pair was selected after a nationwide search by chain restaurant, Smashburger. Couples submitted videos about why  they loved burgers and one another. Hielscher and Porter's told the tale of high school sweethearts who had recently reconnected over burgers and beers.

They were married early Tuesday morning at Smashburger's Las Vegas location. An Elvis impersonator from Graceland Chapel presided.

In true burger-lover fashion, there was a special spin put on the traditional wedding cake: a six-tiered "cake" made entirely of burgers.

South Florida is home to five Smashburger locations, in Boynton Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Miami, and Kendall.

More than 2,500 weddings are expected to be held on November 12, 2013.

The next sequential date this century is on December 13, 2014.
