Florida woman attacked by 30 pound raccoon inside her home

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A Florida woman and her dog was chased down by a 30 pound raccoon and it was all caught on camera.

The 75-year-old woman from St. Augustine were trapped in the house with the raccoon for an hour and a half and were bitten several times.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officers dragged the raccoon out of the woman’s house after she said it terrorized her for nearly two hours.

A man who lives next door said he heard the screaming and rushed over.

He said he tried to shoo it away, but said it lunged at him and when he tried to dodge it, it scurried inside the home.

He took a picture of it inside the house, where he said spent two hours trying to fight it off.

The neighbor told officers he managed to stab the animal with a knife, injuring it for long enough to reach a phone to call police.

The raccoon bit the woman several times, including on her foot.

She was taken to the hospital to be treated and screened for rabies.

Her do, who already has its rabies vaccine, was also bitten but did not require medical attention.

FWC officers took the rabid raccoon outside of the home and shot it.

The woman has returned home and will make a full recovery.
