28-year-old man's family wants mystery of his death solved

Detectives ask for public's help identifying motorcyclist

DAVIE, Fla. – Family and friends met for a memorial Saturday in Davie, just steps away from where Scott Garnto died last week.

Gloria Garnto, his grieving mother, said the family wasn't looking for someone to blame.

"We just want to know what happened to him the last minutes and seconds of his life," she said.

Scott Garnto, 28, and Paris Henderson were passengers in a white BMW that Zachary Libman was driving when Libman somehow lost control about 10:45 p.m. July 22. Detectives are looking for a motorcyclist who sped up behind them after a red light.

Davie police officers believe Libman was speeding eastbound on Griffin Road. They don't know why, but he lost control of the car, which ended up in a ditch and rolled over several times.

Garnto was ejected from the car. Henderson and Libman were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

"We're a grieving family, and we would just like answers," Garnto's brother, Derick Allen Garnto, said.

The Davie Police Department released a witness video showing a motorcyclist spinning his tires at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Griffin Road. They are asking the public for help to identify him. Anyone with information should call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.

Meanwhile, a family friend set up a fundraiser to help the family cover the unexpected funeral costs
