MIAMI - The updated forecast for the 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season has been released.
Famed hurricane forecasters William Gray and Philip Klotzbach released their updated predictions for the season on Friday.
The Colorado State University professors wrote, "We continue to anticipate an above-average season in 2013, although we have lowered our forecast slightly due to anomalous cooling in the eastern subtropical and tropical Atlantic. We expect an above-average probability of United States and Caribbean major hurricane landfall."
Gray and Klotzbach predict there will be 18 named storms in 2013. That's the same prediction the duo made in April 2013.
They now think there will be eight hurricanes. That's down from their April prediction of nine.
Gray and Klotzbach believe there will be three major hurricanes. That's down from their April prediction of four.
