HIALEAH, Fla. – The Hialeah campus of Miami Dade College was evacuated Tuesday due to a bomb threat.
Students and staff were forced to evacuate the campus at 1780 West 49th St. as midterms were underway.
The all-clear was given at about 4 p.m. and students and faculty were allowed back inside.
Local 10 News was told that someone called in the threat.
Students said they figured something was up when campus security and police kept pushing them farther away from the school.
"We heard the alarm and we just thought it was regular, so we just stood outside, like a couple feet from the door, and they just kept pushing us back further and further until we got here," Robert Gonzalez said.
College officials said the threat was made through a blocked number and said the caller claimed that they would follow up the bomb with a shooting.
Students said they got an email from the school saying that the campus was being evacuated due to a security concern.
School officials said evening classes will resume as scheduled.
