Fort Lauderdale runner wins 2nd place at Seven Mile Bridge Run

FAU student bests Fort Lauderdale man by 1 minute

MARATHON, Fla. – For about two hours, there were about 1,500 runners competing at Saturday's 35th annual Seven Mile Bridge Run. They ran across the Florida Keys Overseas Highway's longest bridge. 

Fort Lauderdale's Michael Stone, 36, won the men's division second place with a time of 39 minutes and 27 seconds. The only man to beat him was 13 years younger and beat him by one minute.

Josh Peterson, 23, a Florida Atlantic University student in Boca Raton, finished the race in 38 minutes and 57 seconds.

Ryan Vanorman was 11 seconds behind Stone. The 16-year-old high school student traveled from Rockford, Mich., for the race, which he completed in 39 minutes and 38 seconds.  

In the women's division, Laura DiBella, 37, of Fernandina Beach won first place with a time of 43 minutes. This is the third time she wins the competition.

Morgan Hull, 20, a Gainesville engineering student, was second with 43 minutes and 19 seconds. Race veteran Helena Bursa, of Big Pine Key, was third with 43 minutes and 51 seconds.
