Second Delray Beach police officer remains in hospital after motor scooter crash

Delray Beach police Officer Bernenda Marc was critically injured in a motor scooter crash in Key West.

MIAMI ā€“ A second Delray Beach police officer who was injured in a motor scooter crash in Key West last weekend has not died, contrary to information provided to Local 10 News by the president of the Miami police union.

Miami Fraternal Order of Police president Javier Ortiz said Officer BernendaĀ Marc, 25, died Tuesday morning at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

However, the Delray Beach Police Department said Marc remains in critical but stable condition at Jackson South Community Hospital.

Ortiz later apologized, saying that he received "bad information."

Marc and Officer Christine Braswell, 40, were on vacation together and riding a motor scooter when they were struck by another vehicle, Key West police spokeswoman Alyson Crean said.

Braswell died Saturday at the hospital.

Local 10 News regrets the error.
