MIAMI – A man was killed Thursday after he was shot in the head while trying to protect a group of children from an erratic driver.
The shooting occurred about 6 p.m. on Northwest 11th Court in Miami.
Miami police said a group of children were gathered in front of an apartment building when a yellow Ford Mustang started driving in circles close to the kids.
The man began shouting at the driver of the car, trying to protect the children, when someone inside the car shot him in the head, police said.
"That Ford Mustang was last seen speeding out of there," Officer Kenia Fallat said.
The man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he died shortly after arriving. His identity has not been released.
