Hialeah man, 87, arrested in fatal shooting

Angel Dominguez confessed to killing sister-in-law visiting from Cuba, police say

HIALEAH, FLa. – Angel Dominguez, 87, was drinking Cuban coffee in the kitchen when Hialeah police arrived at his home to arrest him Saturday, police said.

Hialeah police found his wife and sister-in-law, who was in Hialeah visiting from Cuba, dead at his home, 229 W 45 St., Friday.

His sister-in-law, Hidelisa Echemendia, 80, died of a single gunshot wound, police said. A witness told police her body was in a pool of blood in a bedroom.

Blesilda "Tita" Dominguez was also dead, but police have not released the cause of death.  A witness told police her body, which did not show signs of trauma, was in the living room floor.

"I shot Tita's sister and it caused Tita to have a heart attack," a witness told police the grandfather said Friday.

Dominguez was charged with second-degree murder and was likely to appear in bond court Tuesday.
