HIALEAH, Fla. – Hialeah police detectives arrested a 54-year-old man Saturday after he was accused of stabbing a 74-year-old man a day before his birthday.
The incident happened before 6 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses said Evelio Valdez, 54, confronted Carlos Cutino, 74, in front of Cutino's home at 90 West Eighth St. in Hialeah.

Police said Valdez proceeded to stab Cutino several times and then fled the scene on foot. Cutino died from his injuries.
Hialeah patrol officers caught up to Valdez about two blocks from the incident.
The exact motive for the homicide is yet unknown, but the two men were known to each other, according to police. Witnesses said there was some sort of longstanding dispute between them.
