Hialeah police search for would-be bakery robbers

Men get away empty-handed after startled waitress runs to back of restaurant

HIALEAH, Fla. – Police have released surveillance video of two men who tried to rob a 24-hour bakery in Hialeah last month.

The attempted armed robbery occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Jan. 7 at the Tu Pan bakery, 1197 W. 29th St.

Hialeah police spokesman Carl Zogby said one man pointed a gun at the waitress while the other man demanded money. The waitress, in fear for her life, ran to the back of the restaurant and hid, and the would-be robbers got away empty-handed, Zogby said.

Surveillance video released Thursday shows two men placing bandanas over their faces in a dark alley moments before confronting the woman at the bakery.

Anyone who recognizes the men is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
