Hollywood gang-rape suspect pleads no contest, another returns to jail

Judge rules Erica Avery violated terms of pretrial release; Patricia Montes agrees to testify against others

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – One of five teenagers accused of ganging up on a Hollywood girl and raping her is back in jail, while another teen has pleaded no contest and will spend the next four years in prison.

A Broward County judge ruled Tuesday that Erica Avery, 17, violated the terms of her pretrial release. She was taken into custody.

Avery is one of five teens charged with armed sexual battery and kidnapping in connection with the November 2013 attack at the Hollywood home of Jayvon Woolfork, now 20.

Patricia Montes, now 17, was sentenced as a youthful offender to four years in state prison, to be followed by two years of probation. She has also agreed to testify against the other defendants.

Avery is expected back in court Thursday morning for a hearing to determine if she should remain in jail until trial.

Dwight Henry, now 18, and Lanel Singleton, now 19, are also awaiting trial.
