Homeowner fights back against armed robber

Three men approached outside home in Miami; suspect arrested

MIAMI – Three people were approached outside a home by a gunman Monday afternoon, but one of the victims fought back, police say.

The incident happened in the 1100 block of Northwest 47th Terrace in Miami.

Police said the homeowner was outside with two painters who were working on his house, getting it ready for him to rent out.

"The first thing you try to do is do whatever he tells you, you know, comply give him what he wants. Thank God nothing happened. I gave him my wallet," said Luis Lopez, one of the men painting the home at the time.

The homeowner, on the other hand, did not comply with the robber and instead fought back and tried to grab the gun from the thief's hand. Police said the gun went off during that struggle but no one was shot.

All three men held down the robber until police arrived to arrest him.
