Smoke buildup causes fire alarms to sound

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport was evacuated after fire alarms sounded Saturday, authorities said.

A restaurant's ventilation hood stopped working in Terminal 1. Officials said smoke buildup caused the fire alarms to sound, forcing the evacuation of hundreds at the airport.

There was no fire and no one was hurt in the incident, authorities said.

The airport was back to normal Saturday afternoon.
