Jogger injured in hit-and-run crash

Odiliana Gonzalez is in serious but stable condition

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A jogger injured in a hit-and-run crash remained in serious but stable condition at Doctors Hospital Tuesday morning.

A red vehicle hit 46-year-old Odiliana Gonzalez as she jogged near Country Club Prado and South Greenway Drive about 6 p.m. Monday.

"I heard people screaming and that's when I turned back to actually see what was going on and I saw her on the ground and that's when I realized that she was hit by a car," said her boyfriend, Angel Pinto, a doctor at Jackson Memorial Hospital. "She was in pretty much shock. I tried to help her but we just stabilized her and just waited for the paramedics to get there."

On Tuesday afternoon, police released video of what appeared to be a red truck, which was seen traveling westbound in the 1400 block of South Greenway Drive prior to the crash.

"Hopefully the person that did this has a conscience and we need to get them off the street," said Pinto.

Pinto said his girlfriend suffered a broken leg and underwent surgery Tuesday morning.

Anyone with any information on this crash is asked to call the Coral Gables Police Department at 305-442-1600 or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
