The driver of the garbage truck told deputies they were at the Hampton Inn in Key Largo shortly before 10 a.m. when he didn't hear anything from his co-worker, so he got out of the truck and found Salatowski unresponsive on the ground next to a dumpster. The man told deputies that he didn't know what happened to Salatowski because he was sitting in the driver's seat and couldn't see him.

Salatowski was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Herrin said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Deputies at the scene indicated that Salatowski may have suffered some sort of "crushing" injury.
