Lauderhill police officer rescues 2 from apartment fire

2-year-old, adult treated for smoke inhalation

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A Lauderhill police officer rescued two people, including a child, from a burning apartment Tuesday.

The 2-year-old child and an adult were rescued from the fire at an apartment complex on Northwest 56th Avenue.

Firefighters soon arrived and extinguished the flames.

Both victims were taken to Plantation General Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The apartment was destroyed, and there was damage to surrounding units.

The American Red Cross was assisting the displaced family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
