Woman says driving into coffee shop was 'accidental'

It happened before 3 p.m. Monday, shortly before the establishment was set to close.

Grace Berbrick, the owner of Walter’s Coffee Shop, said she knew the elderly woman very well.

“I’ve been waiting on her for 40 years,” Berbrick said. “She’s very old, she doesn’t need to be driving.”

Fire Rescue personnel took a woman who was inside the coffee shop to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

No one else inside the coffee shop was injured, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

“My heart was in my mouth,” Berbrick said. “I was just so happy that nobody got hurt because it could have been a lot worse.”
