Woman dies after car goes airborne, crashes into Pembroke Park shopping center

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A destructive crash overnight in Pembroke Park has left one person dead.

It happened along Hallandale Beach Boulevard between 40th and 48th Avenue.

Witnesses told Local 10 News a car was traveling eastbound on Hallandale Beach Boulevard when it lost control and went airborne, crashing into a shopping plaza.

Authorities said the driver of the car that lost control is a woman and that she was ejected from her vehicle. She was pronounced dead on scene by first responders.

At least six parked vehicles were damaged in the single car crash. One of those vehicles was pushed through the front doors of Thirsty’s bar.

Employees of Thirsty’s said off camera they were closed and cleaning up when the crash occurred.

Broward Sheriff’s Office units blocked part of the roadway for much of Sunday morning.

An investigation is ongoing into what caused the crash.
