Search continues for rapist who targeted teen walking in Pembroke Pines

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. ā€“ Residents in Pembroke Pines remain on edge following the rape of a 17-year-old girl on Sunday.

They are hoping for an image of a suspect or news of a capture.

ā€œTimes like this, youā€™ve got to be extremely careful,ā€ concerned resident Donovan Major said. ā€œMany people are afraid because of the incident (Sunday), including my own mother.ā€

Police are turning up the heat, spending hours scanning video just to get a glimpse of the perp.

The crime happened at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Sunday when the girl was walking in the area of 1400 S. Flamingo Road.

Thatā€™s when police said a man approached her from behind, covered her mouth and pulled her into nearby bushes, where he raped her.

Police have since released the following update:

ā€œDetectives have now canvassed the entire plaza and have collected multiple videos that are currently being reviewed for any investigative leads.ā€

Local 10 News learned that officers spent about five hours at the Bravo supermarket alone, managers said.

The subject is described as a man in his 20s or 30s with dark hair who was wearing a white polo shirt with black jeans.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
