Hialeah barber shop goes up in flames; ‘possible criminal investigation’ underway

HIALEAH, Fla. – An early morning fire broke out inside a barber shop Friday in Hialeah.

The shop is located at 60 W. 49th St.

Video obtained by Local 10 News showed the extensive damage done by the flames as officials said the barbershop was a complete loss.

Hialeah Fire Department officials said they were called out around 3:40 a.m.

A witness told investigators that they saw two men start the fire.

Fire crews were at the scene for nearly two hours fighting the flames as plumes of smoke billowed into the air.

Authorities said thankfully no one was trapped inside the building and there were no injuries reported.

The fire did not spread to any nearby businesses.

The Hialeah Police Department is investigating, along with the Hialeah Fire Prevention Bureau and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

An HFD spokesperson said Friday morning that it’s all part of a “possible criminal investigation.”
