Woman arrested after brief police chase that caused long traffic mess on I-95

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – There was a major traffic mess on I-95 in north Miami-Dade County and south Broward County Friday afternoon after a short police chase came to a crashing end.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a silver BMW was speeding on the highway, going emergency shoulder to pass other cars.

This was happening in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Northwest 103rd Street.

The driver, who has since been identified by FHP as 34-year-old Jacqueline Marie Mason, wouldn’t pull over for troopers and a short chase ensued, they said.

Troopers said they performed a pit maneuver by the Hollywood Boulevard exit of I-95, causing the BMW to collide with an SUV before coming to a stop.

Mason was arrested and a woman who was in the SUV was placed in the back of an ambulance with minor injuries, authorities said.

The crash backed up traffic for hours as troopers shut down the northbound lanes of I-95 during the investigation.
