Pembroke Park commission selects second new police chief in as many weeks

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Commissioners in the town of Pembroke Park approved a new interim police chief on Monday after they voted the current chief out.

The town chose Daniel Decoursey to lead the department less than two weeks after Chief Ra Shana Dabney-Donovan was ousted.

The decision to replace the chief came amid concerns about internal investigations and lawsuits against the department, including allegations that an officer forced someone to delete a video of an arrest.

Dabney-Donovan had only been on the job for six months.

She was the second chief since the department was established in 2022.

Dabney-Donovan called the allegations against the department rumors.

Officials initially appointed Wendy Morse, a veteran of the West Palm Beach Police Department, as interim chief.
