Search continues for Homestead woman’s killer

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Five days since a Homestead woman was carjacked, abducted and murdered in central Florida, authorities continued to search for her killer.

New details continue to be released, including how the murder of a tow truck driver a day earlier may be connected to the killing of 31-year-old Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias on Tuesday.

The armed carjacking was all caught on cell phone video in Seminole County. A witness said a gunman exited a green Acura, pointed a gun at her, jumped in the back seat of Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias’ white Dodge Durango, and then drove off. Investigators learned she called her husband just moments before.

“Her vehicle was being rammed by the vehicle behind her,” Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said. “They didn’t call 911; he didn’t call 911.”

Hours later, Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias’ body would be found in her burnt SUV with a dozen 10 mm spent shell casings.

Lemma said the green Acura that was found was also spotted at a scene in Orange County, where tow truck driver Juan Cintron was shot and killed in a hail of gunfire, of more than a hundred rounds, the day before Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias’ murder.

“A good percentage of those rounds on the ground are 10 mm, the gun used in the murder of our victim,” Lemma said.

The sheriff said moments after Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias’ death, her husband called a childhood friend whose husband is an Orange County sheriff’s deputy.

Deputy Francisco Estrella Chicon was arrested after the sheriff said he gave Seminole investigators a fake name, getting critical details on Katherine’s case, which he then gave to her husband.

But is Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias’ case connected to Cintron’s murder?

“I absolutely think they are connected,” Lemma said.

Lemma added that they still need to obtain the physical evidence to prove there is a connection.

The Orange County deputy is now being held with no bond.

Lemma said the victim’s husband is still not considered a person of interest.
