MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The Icebox Cafe on Miami Beach has closed its doors after more than 26 years in business.

The cafe, which first opened its doors in 1998, drew in diners and even celebrities like Oprah Winfrey who said the cafe made some of the “Best Cakes in America” on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” in the early 2000s.

These included the cafe’s house made cinnamon butter Bundt cake, “The Bomb” cheesecake brownie chocolate cake and coconut buttercream cake, to name a few.

Earlier this week, owner Robert Siegmann announced the closure of the Miami Beach and Hallandale Beach locations in an email to customers.

Siegmann also went on to say that the Icebox Cafe at Miami International Airport would remain open.

Oprah’s favorite chocolate cake is still available for purchase online as well as other Icebox Cafe customer favorites.
