Homestead police: Shooting injures 3-year-old child

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A shooting injured a 3-year-old child on Sunday in Homestead.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Southeast 10th Street and 26th Terrace. A helicopter flew the pediatric patient to the HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

According to the Homestead Police Department, the wounded child’s condition was stable on Sunday afternoon and detectives were investigating the shooting.

“At this time, details surrounding the incident are limited, and our investigation is ongoing,” a spokesperson for the police department said in a statement to Local 10 News. “Our priority is to gather all relevant information and ensure a thorough investigation into this unfortunate event.

“The Homestead Police Department is committed to the safety and well-being of all members of our community. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”
