Miami police officers investigate shooting after armed robbery in Wynwood

Police officers help 2 robbery victims near 29th Street

MIAMI – Detectives were investigating a shooting and an armed robbery after a Shot Spotter alert on Sunday morning in Miami’s most popular art district.

Police officers responded just before 2 a.m. to the Wynwood neighborhood. A shooter was in a white BMW, an officer reported to dispatch, according to police scanner traffic.

Miami police officers reported finding two robbery victims near the corner of Northwest 29 Street and First Avenue, just west of North Miami Avenue.

Police officers detained and released about half a dozen people during their investigation.

No one was injured in the robbery or shooting in the parking lot across the street from Brick, a bar and nightclub, at 187 NW 28 St., which usually plays hip-hop and opens until 3 a.m.

R House Wynwood, a neighboring restaurant, lounge, and gallery, had closed at about 6 p.m.

According to a spokeswoman for Brick, the parking lots with access at Northwest 28 Street are not affiliated with the nightclub or the nightclub’s owners.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
