Fort Lauderdale Air Show returns, U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headlining

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds roared into to South Florida this week.

They’ll be headlining this year’s Fort Lauderdale Air Show.

Local 10 News’ Janine Stanwood got to meet team leader Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Malafa, who showed off his tricked-out F-16, ready for show time.

“Our mission is to recruit, retain and inspire,” Malafa said. “The most important is for me is inspiration. We hope to come and show what the Air Force is all about. Pride, professionalism and precision.”

This air show is always a chance to witness some of the most talented pilots in the world, dazzling crowds with precision maneuvers and heart-stopping stunts.”

In past years, we’ve seen the Navy Blue Angels and special demo teams.

There are free areas on the beach, but depending on how close you want to get, you might need a ticket for a premium spot.

Make sure to bring sunscreen and get ready to be dazzled. The shows begin on Saturday.
