Suspected serial rapist arrested in South Florida

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man, who police suspect is a serial rapist, is being held without bond in a South Florida jail.

Vincent Ernerst Laing Jr., 30, was arrested in Palm Beach County following an investigation into the sexual battery of a 41-year-old woman.

According to an affidavit, Laing is accused of attacking two women at an Orlando apartment complex on two separate occasions in June and August of 2023.

In the June attack, police said the woman pulled into the MetroWest apartment complex near Valencia College to check her GPS when Laing approached her.

The victim said he put a knife to her head and forced her into a nearby apartment where he allegedly raped her.

In the August incident, a woman said she was looking at an apartment unit when forced her into an apartment at knifepoint and raped her.

Laing is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail and faces one count of sexual battery with a deadly weapon by force.
