Tri-Rail train collides with semi-truck in Pompano Beach

1 person on train taken to hospital with minor injuries

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A Tri-Rail train and semi-truck collided Friday afternoon in Pompano Beach, causing major traffic delays.

The collision happened shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Andrews Avenue.

City spokeswoman Sandra King said one person on the train was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic on Atlantic Boulevard was snarled while authorities investigated the crash.

Tri-Rail traffic was briefly halted because of the collision.

South Florida Regional Transportation spokeswoman Bonnie Arnold said Tri-Rail commuters should expect delays and consider alternative means of travel.
