Man accused of killing, lighting co-worker's body on fire goes before judge

Husband of Yolanda Samaniego on suspect: 'I hope he rots'

MIAMI ā€“ The man accused of killing his co-worker and lighting her body on fire appeared before a judge Sunday afternoon, listening closely with the help of an interpreter.

Marvin Rivero-Montalvo faces a charge of first-degree murder in the death of Yolanda Samaniego, with whom he worked at Solo Printing in Doral.

The body of the 51-year-old mother was found Sept. 17 in a field near Northwest 63rd Street and 82nd Avenue.

Police said Rivero-Montalvo gave several accounts of what happened to Samaniego -- even trying to implicate the woman's husband, before he admitted to luring her, taking her body to a hotel and dumping it in a field Sept. 13. Police said he came back four days later and set her body on fire.

Local 10 New spoke to Julio Samaniego on Sunday night about the night he realized his wife of 26 years was missing.

"I blew up the phone calling constantly since Friday," he said. "I tried and tried and tried and I reported her missing on Monday."

Julio Samaniego said he has just one wish for Rivero-Montalvo.

"They found the guy and I hope he rots," he said.

On Monday, Rivero-Montalvo's sister told Local 10 News reporter Christina Vazquez that her brother is innocent.

Rivero-Montalvo is being held without bond.
