Man arrested after robbing GameStop in Hialeah, police say

HIALEAH, Fla. – A 28-year-old man was arrested Monday after he robbed a GameStop in Hialeah at gunpoint, police said.

Kelvin Mejia entered the GameStop in the 900 block of East Eighth Avenue and began walking around the store until he was the last patron inside, police said.

He then walked up to the cashier to pay for several items.

Shortly after, Mejia walked up to  the counter again, this time with a gun in his left hand, police said. He pointed the gun at the cashier and demanded that he open the register.

The victim complied with the demands and left the drawer open.

Mejia took all the cash and several video games before leaving in a black four-door sedan, police said.

Police were able to lift fingerprints from the crime scene, and those prints came back to Mejia, police said.

Mejia was arrested Tuesday on a non-related case.

Mejia has been arrested on charges of armed robbery, felony possession of a firearm and displaying a firearm while committing a felony.
