According to an arrest report, Reyes-Rodriguez was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup about 6:40 p.m. Saturday on Northeast 18th Avenue at 185th Street when he accelerated too hard and lost control of the pickup.

Police said Reyes-Rodriguez hopped the curb and struck a pedestrian who was on the sidewalk near a bus stop.

Police said he also struck a bus bench, tree and the bumper of a parked car outside a home before coming to a stop.

A witness who was at the home where the parked car was hit snapped a photo of Reyes-Rodriguez and his passenger.

Police said both got out of the truck, looked at the pedestrian on the ground with multiple injuries, and ran from the scene.

Police said the driver and passenger were later arrested and Reyes-Rodriguez confessed to leaving the scene of the crash. Officers said he also admitted that he had never been issued a Florida's driver license or a license from any other state.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
