ME: Victim died of blunt force trauma, broken neck

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – An Oakland Park man was arrested after beating his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend to death early Thursday morning, deputies said.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said Anthony Dippolito, 56, had been spying on his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend through a window in the women's apartment at 3260 NE 19th Ave. on Wednesday night.

Deputies said Dippolito confronted the couple twice throughout the evening. He then returned at approximately 2 a.m. and pounded on the woman's front door.

Deputies said the men started arguing and Dippolito forced his way into the home. The men then stepped out into the walkway where the argument turned physical and Dippolito allegedly struck the victim in the head and face multiple times until he was unconscious.

Deputies found the victim dead in the walkway. Dippolito's car was found still parked at the apartment complex and his keys were found next to the victim's body. Dippolito was found a few blocks from the scene and was taken into custody.

The Broward County medical examiner's office ruled the victim died of blunt force trauma, which included a broken neck.

Dippolito faces a charge of second-degree murder.
