Man killed in Pembroke Pines accident

Pedestrian was struck by car

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla – A 49-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a car while crossing a street in Pembroke Pines, police said.

The man was struck by a southbound Nissan Versa at 200 South Hiatus Road around 10:45 p.m. Friday, according to Pembroke Pines police.

Police said the man, who was not in a crosswalk, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 26-year-old driver of the car, Stefen Lockett, of Pembroke Pines, left the scene, but was located at the Avalon community in Miramar.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Police said that this is an ongoing investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
