Man shot after firing at police officers in North Miami

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A 21-year-old man was shot Tuesday night after firing at police officers at apartments near Northeast 132nd Street and Northeast Seventh Avenue.

Miami-Dade police said officers went to the apartment just after 7 p.m. as they were following a lead on a recent shooting.

When officers arrived at the apartments, the man started firing at them, police said. The officers returned fire, wounding the man, police said.

The 21-year-old man, who has not been identified, was taken to Aventura Hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

Police said no officers were injured in the shooting, but one of their cruisers may have been struck by a bullet.
