Man shot while riding in car leaving Sunrise condo

Detectives believe shooter fired from public area above driveway

SUNRISE, Fla. – A man is in critical condition after he was shot while riding in a car that was leaving a Sunrise condominium complex Thursday night.

Sunrise police released surveillance photographs Friday of three men wanted for questioning in the shooting.

Police said Rodney Nelfort was a passenger in the front seat of a Nissan Maxima that was leaving the Tao condominium near the Sawgrass Mills mall when he was shot multiple times.

Nelfort was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical but stable condition Friday.

Police said the driver was not shot, but he received a minor laceration to his leg. He was cooperating with investigators.

Detectives believe the shooter or shooters fired from a public area in the complex above the driveway.

The men in the surveillance photos were seen at the complex shortly before the shooting.

Police are searching for a dark vehicle that was seen speeding away from the area.
