Man wanted on multiple felony charges held without bond in Miami

Gerardo Martinez-Reygada was arrested after a SWAT standoff in Miami on Thursday

MIAMI – A man taken down by multiple law enforcement agencies in Miami is being held in jail without bond.

Police said Gerardo Martinez-Reygada was wanted in multiple cities for multiple felony warrants. One of those warrants was for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend's ex-husband in Hialeah last September.

According to detectives, Martinez-Reygada drove by the victim's home and opened fired. Luckily no one was shot.

The Hialeah Police Department told Local 10 News that police received a tip that the suspect was in Miami. The SWAT team was called to the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and 36th Street on Thursday, where a massive perimeter was established.

Police used K-9 officers and armored trucks to patrol the neighborhood.

Eventually, a K-9 officer was able to detect his scent. Martinez-Reygada was bitten by the dog not far from the gas station where he bailed out and was then apprehended.

Paramedics treated him for his bites and took him to a hospital under police watch. A woman who was in the car with the suspect was also taken into custody.

Her identity has not been released, and it's unclear if she will be facing any charges.
