The woman told deputies that Kummer, 29, had blood all over him, and her cat was lying on his chest, also bloody and badly injured.

Deputies said the woman's boyfriend confronted Kummer, at which point Kummer attacked him.

The woman told deputies that she picked up the cat as it cried in pain. She said the cat couldn't walk, was bleeding from its mouth, had swelling over both of its eyes and a cut on its nose.

Deputies said Kummer denied injuring the cat, despite having scratches on his face, chest and abdomen, with clumps of what looked liked cat hair in the dried blood on his body.

Kummer was arrested and charged with domestic battery and animal cruelty.

The cat was taken to a veterinarian's office by Krummer's mother to be treated for its injuries.
