MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -

The Miami Beach Convention Center Advisory Board on Tuesday endorsed Portman-CMC's redevelopment plan for the center.

“We are pleased and honored to be the recommended choice of the Miami Beach Convention Center Advisory Board,” said Jack Portman, Vice Chairman of Portman Holdings. “We are confident that this process will lead to the best outcome for the residents and visitors of Miami Beach.”

The plan by Portman-CMC includes a modernized convention center, 300 residential apartments, a Latin American Cultural Museum, a refurbished Jackie Gleason Theater and Clubhouse, an 800-room hotel, and additional parking.

The final vote to see who will win the bid will be made on July 17. City commissioners must still vote.
