MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - When Miami Beach police officer Reinaldo Casas was fired Feb. 27, 2013, he blamed it on a "sexual aid cream/gel."
Casas tested positive to a Miami Beach Department random drug test Jan. 15, 2013. He claimed he had never used cocaine.
"The sexual aid cream was provided to me by a friend [Idilio L. Godinez] to assist my sexual performance and he never told me it contained," cocaine, Casas said in a grievance filed March 13, 2013.
The homicide detective will be getting his job back, an arbitration ruling released Thursday said.
The arbitrator ordered the City of Miami Beach to reinstate Casas with salary back pay.
Records show that Casas earned $122,532 in 2012. This included his $72,568 salary, $37,612 in overtime, $7,382 in premium and $4,968 in off duty pay.
