Detectives said burglars would enter the mobile homes overnight while the residents were sleeping and took jewelry, electronics and other valuables in plain sight.

While conducting surveillance at the Bamboo Mobile Home Park early in the morning Feb. 26, a deputy spotted the burglars, who fled the scene.

With the help of the BSO helicopter and a K-9 deputy, a 17-year-old suspect who was found in possession of a laptop and tablet was taken into custody, detectives said. Two others got away.

Later that afternoon, detectives spotted a stolen vehicle from Miami-Dade County and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Raymond Rivera, refused to stop and tried to get away, but the vehicle was blocked in.

Detectives said Rivera was on probation stemming from burglary charges. His passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was also arrested.
