He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

According to a complaint filed in September 2014, an undercover FBI agent told Quintanilla that he was a drug trafficker.

Authorities said instead of arresting the man, Quintanilla offered to help his drug trafficking business by offering him advice about how to run his business, providing him the location of an unmarked Miami-Dade police narcotics office, providing him the names of three Miami-Dade police officers and promising to provide photographs of officers in the future.

The FBI said Quintanilla also ran the name of a purported drug dealer in a law enforcement database when asked to by the undercover agent.

According to the complaint, Qunitanilla agreed to act as an escort during a fake 10-kilogram cocaine deal and offered a location for the $250,000 deal to take place. Authorities said the officer was paid $3,500 for his involvement.

Authorities said Qunitanilla confessed to accepting bribes last month when questioned by the FBI about his role in the trafficking of narcotics.

The Miami Springs Police Department released a statement saying that Quintanilla was suspended with pay "as a result of an open investigation" by the FBI's Miami field office.

Police said Quintanilla turned himself in to the FBI.

"An internal administrative review will be conducted at the conclusion of the criminal case," the statement said.
