MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Miami-Dade employees will still be required to pay a portion of their health insurance, after Mayor Carlos Gimenez vetoed a bill that would have gotten rid of the five percent contribution by county employees.
More than 26,000 workers have paid the five percent for the last three years, but that was expected to change in 2014.

The mayor's veto however, was expected. He says ending the mandatory employee contribution would create a big hole in the county's budget, which is something the city simply can't afford.
