ANALYSIS OF 2012-2013 DATA:

  • There are about 65 school districts in Florida. Miami-Dade County is the fourth largest district in the country, so it is not a surprise that it ranks at the top when it comes to incident reports in Florida. 
  •  Miami-Dade was the district with the most fighting, battery, "breaking and entering/burglary," robberies, trespassing, vandalism, larceny and tobacco incident reports in the state during the 2012-2013 school year.
  • About 68 percent of the state's "breaking and entering/burglary" incident reports were from Miami-Dade County. Miami-Dade County's Superintendent's Office, 1450 NE 2nd Ave., in downtown Miami, had the most incidents during the 2012-2013 school year.
  • About 46 percent of the state's vandalism incident reports were from Miami-Dade. Miami-Dade County's Superintendent's Office, Treasure Island Elementary and South Dade Senior High had the most incidents during the 2012-2013 school year.
  • About 37 percent of the state's "larceny/theft/motor vehicle" incident reports were from Miami-Dade. Miami-Dade. Miami-Dade County's Superintendent's Office, G. Holmes Braddock Senior High and Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High had the most incidents during 2012-2013 school year.
  • About 35 percent of the state's robbery incident reports were from Miami-Dade. John F. Kennedy Middle and North Miami Middle had the most incidents during the 2012-2013 school year.
  • About 28 percent of the state's fighting incident reports were from Miami-Dade. Brownsville Middle School, South Dade Senior High and North Dade Middle had the most incidents during the 2012-2013 school year.
  • About 21 percent of the state's tobacco incident reports were from Miami-Dade. South Dade Senior High, Hialeah Senior High and G. Holmes Braddock Senior High had the most incidents.
  • LARCENY: G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School  had the second highest "larceny/theft/motor vehicle" incident reports in the state. Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High had the fourth. Miami Palmetto Sr. High School had the fifth. Hialeah Senior High School, Miami Northwestern Senior High, Miami Senior High School and Hialeah Gardens Senior High School followed.
  • ROBBERY: Seven of the 10 schools with the highest robbery incident reports were in South Florida.  John F. Kennedy Middle School was the third. North Miami Middle School was the fourth. Coconut Creek High School was the fifth. Charles W. Flanagan High School, Allapattah Middle School, Horace Mann Middle School, Nautilus Middle School and North Dade  Middle School followed.
