A search for Leiba was launched in February 2012 after she was reported missing. Police said Leiba admitted to running away from home in that incident.

Leiba's parents insisted in 2012 that she was kidnapped after getting off a school bus and that she was held against her will.

But detectives said she was staying with a friend who was 18 at the time and the friend's male cousin, Mario McCurvin, a convicted felon. A cellphone led investigators to the apartment.

Anyone who has seen Leiba is asked to call Miramar police.
