The film portrays the psychological abuse that her domineering, alcoholic husband puts her through.

Thorough a dictatorial style, the charming hustler leeches away her strength and pushes her toward a state of crisis.

Burton shows viewers the artist's monomania and surreal perceptions, which are like those of a cartoonist distorting reality.

Despite the darkness of the artist's experience, the story is inspiring, as it depicts a victory in the feminist struggle.

"Key figures in the film's production" will be present for a discussion after the screening, an event organizer said.

The film hits theaters on Christmas Day.

The special Dec. 5th screening is open to the public and free, but there is limited seating. It starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Colony Theater, 1040 Lincoln Road, in Miami Beach.
